HUBC Visits Capitol Technology University

On March 11, 2026, Howard University Beltsville Campus (HUBC) visited Capitol Technology University to check a student presentation about building and launching a sonde by the end of the semester. The project is call Atmospheric Scattering Counter for Environmental and Near-space Tracking (ASCENT) and it’s under the supervision of professor Jeffrey Volosin. The students involve in the project are Elijah Mister, Janiah Aryeetey, Jeffrey Jebakumar, Maycold Asencio-Orozco, Oluwatobi Awobayikun, Philip Alsop, and Zoe Denito. The HUBC personnel was impressed with their presentation and gave some suggestions on improving their project. Can’t wait to see the device take flight and collect data like we do here at HUBC. There was also a tour of the Astronautical and Space Engineering Undergraduate Program that included the Space Flight Operations Training Center.
