Radiation Measurements
Solar and Terrestrial radiation have been monitored since 2005. Instruments are in both part of the HUBC campus.
- Broadband Instrumentation/Parameters:
• Total incident and reflected solar and terrestrial irradiance (Pyranometer: 285 – 3,800 nm and Pyrgeometer: 3-50 μm, respectively)
• Total downward and upward Photosynthetic Active Radiation (400-700 nm).
• Diffuse irradiance (Pyranometer on a solar tracker).
• Direct irradiance (Pyrheliometer on a solar tracker). - Spectral/narrowband measurements:
• Total, diffuse, and direct radiances at 415, 500, 615, 673, 870, and 940 nm ( Multi-Filter Rotation Shadowband Radiometer).
• Direct radiances at 340, 380,440, 675, 870, 936, and 1020 nm (Microtops – portable sun photometer).
• Skin temperature (Infra-red thermometers 8-14 μm)
• HUBC hosts a NASA Pandora sunphotometer (https://pandora.gsfc.nasa.gov//index.html) - Studies
• Climate/micrometeorological Studies.
• Aerosol loading and characterization.
• Trace gas total column concentration (e.g..water vapor, ozone).
