K-12 PROGRAM

One of our goals here at HUBC is to inspire, engage and educate K-12 and undergraduate students through our outreach programs. At HUBC, we believe in information transfer which leads to increased science literacy among our targeted underrepresented K-12 student populations in the Washington, DC, and Baltimore, MD, Metropolitan areas.

SCIENCE TOURS
HUBC conducts tours for students, teachers, and scientists throughout the year.  Visits include hands-on scientific experiments for students and teachers in grades K to 12 in the STEM fields. Our objective is to provide students with grade-related experiments in areas such as climate control and air quality.
Visitors will have the opportunity to see and launch a weather balloon from our facility. Students can work with our graduate students and staff to launch a weather balloon and see real-time data as the balloon travels through the atmosphere. Students can also utilize that data in exercises designed to introduce them to how weather forecasts are developed.
