Recognizing that it is often a challenge for scientists and college faculty to communicate effectively at a pre-college level, we organize group meetings to tackle this problem with research updates from everyone. Students are also exposed to this environment and encouraged to participate in presenting their own research.
Washington, DC, and Baltimore, MD, metro areas are heavily populated with students from traditionally underrepresented groups. Reaching this group is critical to realizing our program goals. Our focus reflects our interrelated goals of enhancing research and scholarship by producing the nation’s next generation of African American scholars.
