University Coordinated Radiosonde Project

Howard University Beltsville Campus (HUBC) is participating in a nationwide campaign called University Coordinated Radiosonde Project (UCRP). This is a Phase I “pilot project” involving a university partnership for coordinated radiosonde launches during Atmospheric River Reconnaissance (AR Recon) in February 2025. Each institution will launch a total of 15 to 20 iMet-4 radiosondes from International Met Systems. All launches will be done on Coordinated Universal Time (UTC) starting at 2100 UTC with two more at 0000 UTC and 0300 UTC, respectively. Adrian Flores will be in charge of these launches over HUBC (pictures above and below), in coordination with Ricardo Sakai and Belay Demoz.
